Jazzing Up Waiting Rooms...One Hospital at a Time!
Last year, the Hopewell Executive Board was approached by Nan Reynolds, a retired Student Council advisor. She had an idea for a new community service project. As a caregiver for patients in a hospital, she realized that hospital waiting rooms are not exactly "caregiver friendly", so she came up with the idea of introducing a variety of leisure activities to provide the necessary distraction when one is faced with a serious situation. Nan contacted several local hospitals to find that they would be happy to broaden their selection of magazines and activities for kids.

How can we do our part to help?
We are asking that each school in the Hopewell District came make some form of donation. However, we are not asking for any outrageous amount of money or donation. No donation will be turned down! A list of suggested donations from area hospitals is available from Liaison Blake Herrman. Your council could order a magazine subscription or put together one of the "packets" described in the list. If your council would simply like to donate money, this is perfectly acceptable. No large amount of money needs to be spent! A "packet" can be put together with small items from garage sales or dollar stores.
When do we start?!
Schools may start to donate before the end of the 2010-2011 school year. However, you may wait until the fall of 2011 to donate. Please return your yellow forms to Blake Herrman promptly so that we can keep track of what schools are going to donate and when they plan on donating. Even if your council would not like to donate, please return the form and simply note the fact that you do not wish to donate. This way, a record of all schools can be kept in our files.
If a school wants to donate money only:
Please make a check out to Hopewell District and send to the Hopewell Liaison, Blake Herrman. No donation will be turned down. Contact information is available below.
For those of you who weren't at state:
You may request an information packet from Blake Herrman by contacting blakeherrman@gmail.com. If you do not ask for one now, a packet will sent to your school in the fall mailing.
Thank you,
Blake Herrman Hopewell Liaison
